Negatively Skewed Distribution (Skewed to the Left) A distribution is negatively skewed when there is a clustering of numbers in the high end of the distribution and a tail extends towards the smaller numbers (i.e. to the left). In negatively skewed distributions, the mean is pulled to the left -- in the direction of the smaller scores.
