For the last several years I have become increasingly dedicated to teaching higher ed courses in a web environment ? most notably, Introductory Statistics. I?ve experimented with hybrid courses as well as complete online courses. Perhaps most surprising, I have observed a remarkable increase in student-teacher interactions when teaching online. Student-teacher interaction in traditional stat courses can sometimes be rather sparse. However, when online, my students ask lots of questions and are extremely persistent at getting the help they need ? whether through email, live chat, or the course blog. This increased interaction has been a huge positive for my courses. Each semester, I find myself looking forward to the rich forms of online interaction that we share.
