Hiomework

Dr Guy, there are several of my homework assignments you didnt grade. Please advise
Posted by      Dominique M. at 1:51 PM CST
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
I checked your homework. You have two assignments that I have not graded because THEY ARE NOT MARKED COMPLETED. You MUST mark them completed before I can grade them.

Also, I do not know which two assignments they are -- since they are not labeled.

Are they Assignments 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 or 4 and 5? Please let me know.

Please MARK THEM COMPLETED if you want me to grade them.

Homework grades

Hi Dr Guy! I was wondering why I never received my homework grades and I just read that it had to be marked completed before you were able to grade it! I posted all of my homework before the dead line and the date is shown at the bottom. Will I get credit for my homework?
Posted by      Erica H. at 8:42 AM CST
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
Yes. You will get credit. :)

Final Exam

Dr. Guy,

This test was extremely hard. Will you consider curving the grade?
Posted by      Ashley B. at 7:19 PM CST
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
Yes. There will be a curve. I will work on it once the final exam has closed.
Posted on Fri, 8 Mar 2013 8:53 PM CST by Rebecca G.

EXAM

PLEASE tell me there is going to be a curve on that final it dropped my grade over 11 points. That was so hard and I am freaking out.

  Willie Williams  says:
Dr. Guy: Will you please consider curving the grades? The time allotted to take that exam (like the quizzes) does not allow for much time to go back and double check, which makes the anxiety increase and performance decrease, speaking on my behalf.
Posted on Fri, 8 Mar 2013 6:18 PM CST by Willie W.
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
Yes. There will definitely be a curve.

Homework

I am just reading on the assignment where I actually misnumbered and missed a problem. Is it too late for me to go back and do it to get credit?
Posted by      Jherrel J. at 8:43 PM CST
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
At this point, it really is too late. I've graded over 200 assignments this week and if I were to accept resubmissions, I would probably have another 200 to grade.

Homework Assignment 2 Problem 7-2,3,4,5

I am going over my assignments now, can you help me on how to answer the following problems 2,3,4 & 5 questions, I missed them on my homework assignment.
Posted by      Melba M. at 12:02 PM CST
  Willie Williams  says:
For 7.2, you use the formula found on page 11 of Unit 5.
You're trying to find z.
Your X is your distance score, in this case, 128.
Your μ is 125
your α is 10.
Your formula will look like (128-125)/10=z.
Input your z score, which will equal .30 into the Standard Normal Curve calculator as one z score
Since we are trying to find the percentile below 128, we want to make sure all scores below (or to the left of) .3 are also accounted for, so we make the second z score -5 (any number greater than -4 will work)
You will get .61788 as your area, and you multiply by 100 to get the percent 61.788%

The same procedure for 7.3, except your first z score will come from plugging 99 into the formula, and the second z score will come from plugging in 107 into the formula.

7.4 and 7.5-- look on page 25 of Unit 5.

HELP WITH QUIZ

If there is anybody that is willing to meet on campus so that we can go over materials for the quiz. I was doing good at first but then everything happened so quick. I have two more quizzes to work on but it feels like I do not even know the material well enough to do decent. So I was hoping that if we put our minds together that it would work out better. Thank you!

GHA5 #3

For 3-1 and 3-2 I am getting
-Positively
and
-Linear

are these two answers correct?
Posted by      James R. at 11:51 PM CST
  Willie Williams  says:
Yes
Positively, because as X increases, Y is also increasing
Linear because you can easily draw a line through the plots

Question

The blog post said all work must submitted by this Wednesday. I am still working on trying to upload some of the pspp work and I was wondering what time Wednesday is the deadline. I am assuming midnight on Wednesday but I am not sure.

PSPP #8

It won't let me put numbers in past 25 in the columns. Has anyone figured out how to do so?
Posted by      Bilqis A. at 12:34 PM CST
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
I'm not sure why you are trying to enter 25 numbers. None of the SPSS/PSPP problems have data distributions that large.
Posted on Fri, 22 Feb 2013 1:21 PM CST by Rebecca G.
  Jherrel Jones  says:
Im confused on how we enter that one as well. Per the instructions we would have to enter 10 values within each group
1.0 9.8
1.0 9.9 etc... that's 40 how do we do this one???

Image Save as png

Dr. Guy
I just purchased a new laptop and when I uploaded assignment 4 problem into the drop box it saved as a png file. I just found out how to save it as a jpg file. Do you want me to upload another one as a jpg or just leave it as is.
Posted by      Melody J. at 2:16 PM CST

PNG is perfect. :)

Graded HW 4 problems 3,4,8,9

For the PSPP problems on the homework, are we doing the same for what we did on assignment 1 and 2? As in getting the PSPP image with the Mean, Standard Deviation, MIN, MAX, and Variance. Is there anything else we need to make sure is check marked before we press ok on the Descriptives?
Posted by      James R. at 7:03 PM CST
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
No. You are doing the procedure required for that particular problem (e.g. one sample t, t independent, analysis of variance, etc).

GH4 #8

Is the only value we need to write down on the homework the F value? I got 30.01 for the f value. I do not quite understand what it is asking for.
Posted by      Ashley W. at 6:38 PM CST
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
No.

You need:

Null Hypothesis
Research Hypothesis
Alpha Level
Critical F
Calculated F
Decision

Assignment 4 question 4

I'm trying to do the pspp for problem four but I'm confused as to what we need to enter for the group value when we define the groups...can someone clarify this for me?
Posted by      Taylor M. at 3:32 PM CST
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
Group 1 is the value 1.
Group 2 is the value 2.
Group 3 is the value 3.

etc....
