For 8-1:

Enter 110 for the Population Mean
Enter 12 for the Standard Deviation
Enter 1.96 for z (as we are using the 95% confidence interval). If we were using the 99% confidence interval, we would use 2.58 for z.

Enter 100 for Sample Size. Click CALCULATE.

The answer will appear on RESULT side of the window.

Not at the present time, but I am hoping that will change for the FINAL EXAM.

You are probably adding SPACES. Please re-read the instructions:

If you will notice in parentheses at the end of problem 3, you are told that this problem requires the ONE SAMPLE T CALCULATOR.

First, you will need to use the DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS calculator to find the MEAN and STANDARD DEVIATION of the sample of 9 values given to you.

Once you have these values, open the ONE SAMPLE T CALCULATOR and enter 21 as the population mean. Then enter the sample mean and standard deviation that you calculated and 9 as the sample size. Click CALCULATE.

Why on homework 6-4 -5 instead of -4, basically why are we usuing 5's instead of 4's

I think I have just found the answer to my own question. True false question # 6. states the area under the the standard normal curve to the left of the equals-5000.

The answer is TRUE and this answer can be found on page 47 of Unit 2.

Yes. Once downloaded, you must double click on it to get to the executable file. Please drag that file to your desktop for easy access.

Now execute the .exe file by double clicking on it.

You should see a black frame created with dashes. Move this frame around your PSPP output and click on the small disk icon that is in the TOP RIGHT side of the frame to save the captured image to disk.

Make certain you do NOT use any SPACES in the file name.

Please be sure you actually download PSPP and NOT just the data file.

Or are you talking about the SPSS data for various problems? If you cannot open the data files, please just type the data into SPSS or PSPP. The data are always given to you in the homework assignments.

You have gave a set of problems and when I click on instructions SPss/Pspp for the the problems all I see is a bunch of symbols

If you are using the JAVA statistical calculators, you must enter the data ONE VALUE per row or line.

If you are using SPSS/PSPP, you would not hit calculate.

Can you clarify your procedure so I can help you better?

I used the calculator under the statistical calculators tab on the nfomedia site.

Again, remember when you enter the data, enter ONLY one data value per row or line -- no commas, etc.

The 'trouble' can stem from many factors including your browser settings, your virus software, etc. In other words, it is virtually impossible to troubleshoot like this.

If you want to run SPSS, you can complete the SPSS part of the assignment in any campus lab or you can go to the IT office and they will try to assist you.
