Multiple choice Practice Quiz Unit 11


given:
x: 7 3 4 6
y: 11 9 6 1

what is the correlation coefficient? I am getting -3.6 but it is not an answer choice.

the answer choices given are:
-.68
-.41
-.04
+.41


Can someone please help me solve this if I am doing it wrong. I used formula 11.4

Use the calculator labeled CORRELATION & REGRESSION.

In the column labeled X, enter 7, 3, 4, & 6 (each number should be on a separate line).

In the column labeled Y, enter 11, 9, 6 & 1 (again, one number per line).

Click CALCULATE.

You should see 'calculated r (df = 2) = -.042.

Hence, the correct answer is -.04.
